Mileage/ age related faults can be unpredictable but again preventative maintenance will lessen the chances of big bills. A healthy bank balance does help.

Even though it is a very good car model, it is not perfect. Now and then, your Ford Mondeo may have issues, with one of the most common ones being an oil leak. A Ford Mondeo oil leak problem can be the result of an oil pan that went bad, a loose or damaged oil drain plug, a bad or improperly sealed oil filter, or even a valve cover gasket.
My car is a 2010 Mondeo 2.0 diesel estate car. The car was parked up around six months ago and the not used as I was working from home, because of covid etc. I did give it a wash with a pressure washer while I had it out cleaning a path and later found the battery was dead.

The MK4.5 Mondy 2.0 TDCi unit IS a revised version of the engine in the MK4, you get a bit more performance and crucially the DPF is the non-maintenance version i.e. it's a coated DPF (cDPF) instead of the stupid Peugeot system involving the "eolys fluid".
I'm now the pround owner of a 2003 2.0 litre diesel mondeo ghia ( pre-facelift ) , but I have a problem as the speedo does not work. If you turn the ignition onto position 2 the led does show the mileage , but once you start the engine ,both the mileage and the trip computer dissapear and the speedo does not work .

Overall Mk4’s seem to have shown themselves to be fairly robust cars, but a couple of things do come up fairly frequently; Fuel vaporiser on the 2.0 Diesel – Commonly seems to fail around the 100K miles mark as it cogs up with soot. It is used to heat up the DPF to aid regenerating. Failure causes the DPF to clog up.

Iv got the same issue with my Mondeo edge 1.8 tdci, looses cabin heat and looses water, which results in engine overheating, iv had it to the garage up to now spent £600 it's had timing belt, wet belt, and water pump change, water header tank change, then had new thermostat and hose, and yet it's still doing this, any advice would be greatly
If u r having problems to your 2.0 TDCI as showed, glow plug indicator flashes and white smoke. Others say that the problem is EGR valve, fuel pump, head gas
I have a 57 plate 2.0tdci zetec and its always done this intermittently although behaved perfectly when taken back to the dealers I bought it from. On my insistence they did replace the battery but to no avail. Interestingly on a cold morning last week it took several attempts to start, not the usual 2.
Codes suggest problems with fuel regulator (high/low pressure issue). The only reasonable explanation to the fuel issue would be either summer fuel used at low temperatures causing paraffin to form or some sort of crap in the fuel or tank that clogged the pump. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk.
