I have the 1.6 tdi. I like it. I find it gets to speed quite quickly in 3rd and 4th. The 2.0 fr owners though seem to be getting better mpg than me though. It's quite hard to get a high mpg in the 1.6 because it has to work harder to get to speed and has one less gear. But the new ecomotive has 6 gears and a nice body kit. In Edmunds performance testing, a manual-equipped 2011 Jetta SEL went from zero to 60 mph in 8.4 seconds -- a good time for a midsize sedan with this type of fuel economy. The Jetta TDI features a the 1.9pd (non bxe) are far more reliable than the 2.0tdi pd engine in the Passat. Oil pumps are the major issue on them with balancer shaft and hex drives wearing causing the pump to stop working thus starving the engine of oil which causes major damage. early 2.0tdi pd engines also had a chain driven pump but like the hex drives these give NQurpNO.
